Decaf is designed for use on an LCD display of a coffee machine. The machine itself is designed by NPK Industrial Design. They commissioned Type Invaders to develop a custom bitmap typeface.

The machine itself is marketed thoughout Europe, therefore the characterset of Decaf is extensive to cover all the languages spoken within this area.
